Organizing to win: Upstream director to speak to progressive Whitehorse organizers

Ryan Meili to be joined by Broadbent Institute's Mira Oreck and local progressive leaders

WHITEHORSE—Dr. Ryan Meili, author of A Healthy Society and founding director of Upstream: Institute for a Healthy Society, is coming to town with the message that positive change is possible through people-centred grassroots action. Dr. Meili will speak at Yukon Change Makers, an event co-organized by the Yukon Federation of Labour (YFL), the Broadbent Institute and Upstream that will enhance local community organizing.

"Yukon Change Makers will be a valuable learning opportunity for local progressives," says Broadbent Institute Director of Strategic Partnerships Mira Oreck. "The Broadbent Institute is proud to support the progressive movement in Yukon and across Canada by connecting top-level progressive minds with budding organizers seeking to learn new skills."

"We are delighted to be working together with the Broadbent Institute and Upstream to bring positive change to Yukon," added YFL President Vikki Quocksister. "This evening will show the kind of community organizing that we need to build to make life better for all Yukoners."

Oreck, Quocksister and Kwanlin Dün First Nation member Sean Smith will join Dr. Meili as presenters.

Yukon Change Makers will take place at the High Country Inn (4051 4th Ave) at 7pm on Friday, September 19th.
