Unique course offered in partnership with leading Democratic firm
OTTAWA—As part of its commitment to supporting the development of a new generation of Canadian leaders, the Broadbent Institute has launched the Camp Progress Practicum, a new hands-on, intensive training and placement opportunity for Canadian campaigners, organizers and activists. The program is offered in collaboration with 270 Strategies, a firm founded by senior strategists from U.S. President Barack Obama's 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

Plan tackles steep unemployment and underemployment among youth under 25
OTTAWA—The Broadbent Institute is calling on Canadian businesses and the federal government to create 186,000 full-time co-op, paid internship and summer jobs to help young people make a successful transition from education to work in a new report released today.

Detailed analysis of Conservative proposal reveals deeply unequal scheme
OTTAWA—Two out of three families targeted by the Conservative income splitting plan would receive less than $500 while fewer than 4% of such families – some of the wealthiest in Canada – would be eligible for a benefit in excess of $5,000, a new study by the Broadbent Institute has found.

OTTAWA—The inaugural Progress Summit came to a close today with over 600 participants and more than 10,000 tweets. Over the course of this weekend, progressives from across Canada came together in Ottawa to learn from leading progressive policy experts and organizers.

OTTAWA—The Broadbent Institute’s Progress Summit continues Sunday with a focus on a path forward for a progressive Canada.
Panels on the concluding day of the Summit include developing winning campaigns and providing policy solutions to income inequality and good jobs in a green economy.
Anastasia Khoo, Marketing Director of the Washington, DC-based Human Rights Campaign, will cap off the Summit with a keynote address about online engagement. Khoo was behind the groundbreaking online campaign to spread the now iconic red and pink marriage equality profile photo on behalf of the largest civil rights organization in the United States. That campaign is considered to be Facebook’s most viral ever.
The summit will wrap up with closing remarks by Broadbent Institute Executive Director, Rick Smith, about seizing new momentum for the Canadian progressive movement.
