Valérie Plante is the leader of Projet Montréal, the City of Montréal’s Official Opposition, and city councillor for the district of Sainte-Marie in the borough of Ville-Marie.

A passionate cyclist, Valérie has worked in the cultural and community sectors as well as the labour movement, working for social justice, fighting poverty and fostering citizen participation. Through her involvement with various Montreal organizations - as a professional and as an activist - Valérie has worked closely with citizens and community groups, accompanying immigrant women who are victims of domestic violence through the legal system, giving self-defence classes to children and women, and organizing training programs for young immigrant and Indigenous women throughout the country. Valérie has also served on various boards, most notably for the Groupe Femmes Politique et Démocratie.
