TORONTO—Executive Director Rick Smith is available to comment tomorrow on the final report of the special parliamentary committee on electoral reform, to be tabled in the House of Commons.
The special committee, whose membership reflects how Canadians voted in the 2015 federal election, has been studying alternative voting systems to replace Canada’s first-past-the-post system. The Liberal government promised that the 2015 election would be the last one under the “antiquated” voting system.
Democratic renewal is one of the Broadbent Institute’s primary areas of focus and it has published two studies on electoral reform since the 2015 election as part of an ongoing campaign for a fair voting system in which every voter counts.
